We believe everyone should have the opportunity to experience the joy, confidence, connection and sense of achievement that creativity can bring. Yet for many people, accessing art, dance, drama or music isn't always easy.

 

Financial circumstances, disability, physical or mental health, age, confidence, social isolation and many other barriers can prevent people from taking part.

 

We want to change that.

We're building a team of passionate freelance creative practitioners who share our belief that the arts should be accessible, welcoming and enjoyable for everyone.

Who we're looking for:

​

We're looking for talented, reliable and inspiring freelance practitioners to deliver creative sessions across Hertfordshire.

 

We are particularly interested in:

 

Art & Creativity

Artists, art teachers, illustrators, makers and creative practitioners with experience in drawing, painting, crafts, textiles, mixed media, sculpture, photography or other creative disciplines.

Dance

Dance teachers, dancers, choreographers and movement practitioners across a range of styles, including ballet, contemporary, commercial, street, musical theatre and more.

​

Drama

Actors, drama teachers, theatre practitioners and performers who can use drama, storytelling, improvisation and performance to engage and inspire.

​

Music

Musicians, music teachers and practitioners who can introduce children and adults to the joy of making, listening to and experiencing music.

​

We're also interested in hearing from people with other creative skills that could inspire our participants.

It's about more than your subject. We don't just want people who can teach.

Our freelance practitioners work with people who may have very different abilities, experiences, confidence levels and needs.You don't need to be an expert in every aspect of inclusion. But you do need to be open to learning, willing to adapt and genuinely interested in helping people participate.

The kind of practitioner we're looking for

What you'll be doing:

​

Our freelance practitioners may deliver:

• After-school clubs

• Holiday clubs

• Creative workshops

• One-off sessions

• Regular weekly classes

• Community sessions

• Lessons and small-group activities

• Inclusive and adapted creative sessions
   

Sessions may be delivered for children, young people or adults, depending on your skills and interests.

You don't have to be available for everything.

 

We're building a flexible freelance team so that practitioners can take on opportunities that work for their availability, location and expertise.

Who can apply?

 

You don't necessarily need to have followed a traditional teaching route.

You might be:

• A qualified teacher

• A freelance arts practitioner

• A practising artist

• A professional dancer

• An actor or theatre practitioner

• A musician

• A choreographer

• A creative graduate

• An experienced children's activity leader

• Someone with a specialist creative skill and experience working with children or adults

Safeguarding & professionalism

Because we work with children and potentially with adults who may require additional support, safeguarding is extremely important to us.

Depending on the role, practitioners will be required to meet appropriate safeguarding requirements, which may include:

• Enhanced DBS checks

• Safeguarding training

• Suitable references

• Relevant qualifications or experience

• Compliance with our safeguarding policies and procedures

 

Specific requirements will be discussed as part of the recruitment process.
